September Meet & Greet!

Hello everybody, it's that time of the month, with apps and acceptances and whatnot! Instead of filling the OOC comms with intros, this is a MEET AND GREET for new players and characters!

• This is a place for you to introduce you and your character. You can ramble on about what you want to do while you're here, CR opportunities, your cats, anything.

• Reply to others about how EXCITED you are to play with them!

• Maybe make some friends!

• The IC intro log will be put up on September 18th!

Here's a little copypasta box for people who like boxes. Remember, it's all optional!

Good episodes - though not much for Barbara. >,>

And hee. <3 The weirdness can lead to the best CR, I find. c:

As she mentioned in the test drive, she got there about a year before him in her canon - after having an entire season mostly dedicated to her/her mission to get Batman to accept her. Her reaction to him was pretty much "Who's the pixie?"

At this point, after two years with him, she's pretty much decided he's her annoying little brother who shell never ever stop teasing. 8U

She'll probably be curious to hear about his Barbara - though the kiss thing might freak her out. (And the BFF thing will get an eyebrow raise. This one apparently jumped through several while trying to "find herself" but her last one before she joined the bat team and lost her social life was none other than Pamela Isley.

...And now it's apparently Kara.)

She'll also be out there in her civvies in the intro log. <3

...that'll be hilarious if he ever canon updates, honestly, because by season two, she's... I don't actually know what they are but they're not-dating and it's all really confusing, but they're totally in love because why else would you have Babs in a cartoon if not to go after Dick, right.

Haha. Meanwhile, he's recognized as having the most experience among the sidekicks despite being the youngest (nearly five years by his canon point).

Also KARA AND BABS :3 they should be BFFs.

I WILL KEEP MY EYES OPEN.

Barbara's noping out of that. 8U It's almost as bad as the idea of her being attracted to Batman. 0,o ALMOST. --Barbara side eyes her other versions so hard sometimes--

She's only had 3, and it's in a relatively tame Gotham - even the joker barely ever manages to kill anyone - but she's still going to treat Dick like that annoying little pixie she's familiar with. 8U

HER AND KARA ARE SORT OF NOT-DATING. Only not really? DX Barbara keeps accidentally implying they're in a different sort of relationship. 8U It's giving Barbara something of an identity crises. >,>

SHE HAS A POST UP, ALREADY, TOO. Though. Fair warning. This version hates being called Babs. Don't know why - but she nearly took Dick's head off the one time he called her that. Her nickname of choice appears to be Barb.

He'll probably only call her Barb. I don't think "Babs" ever gets used in YJ. So no worries there.

Yeah, he's leaving Gotham and fighting all the people. |D Some pretty awful things have happened in the back story, but he's not aware of them yet, thanks to the magic of selective pull points.

That will WEIRD HIM OUT -- he's used to them being equals -- but he'll probably end up liking it. He has an older cousin who was like a big brother in his canon, who (naturally) died alongside his parents and aunt (although his uncle lived with paralysis and poooossibly a coma, it's not at all clear), and Aqualad, Speedy, and Kid Flash all treat him like a lovably annoying younger brother who is also very skilled, so.

Barbara and him had an. Interesting relationship. :|a Barbara spent weeks stalking Batman, showing up at crime scenes, just to get him to let her in the loop - she had to earn her place, and personally convince him not to work alone.

Then suddenly there was Robin, with the keys to the batcave - which she hadn't even seen yet. 8| Thankfully, Bruce made one of his few good calls at that moment - he took her to the batcave, pulled off his mask (all without saying a word, mind you) and sort of let them hash it out. >,> There was a lecture about working together, later, too.

But essentially they went from annoyed-at-each-other rivals, to siblings - often fighting and snapping, other times banding together to work around Bruce or complain about him; and sometimes - rarely - just being the protective big sis. (Unfortunately, Batman still didn't really treat her right - spent a ton of time teaching Dick, didn't really teach her anything, fighting wise. Didn't even know when she graduated high school. 8| but. She didn't seem to hold that against Dick, as a rule. >,> )

ANYWAY another part of it was/is that Barbara is largely a gymnast - an olympic hopeful no less. She had most of the same moves, and the same skill level, as Dick. (But of course she was older. 8| )

Plus after the big secret reveal, they all just... sort of took to casually hanging out. Not just in the batcave - in civvies, in the mansion. Bruce would read the newspaper, Barbara would do her homework... Dick would play video games. Alfred would serve scones. (Gordon was the one who comforted Bruce when he lost his parents, and it's sort of implied here and there that the families were relatively close. Like. Even before Barbara knew about Bruce's identity, she showed up at one of his parties.)

All sounding good. That lines up a bit with his memory-- Gordon only gets a brief cameo in one episode and there's not really any indication of what kind of relationship he may or may not have with Bruce, but Barbara is referred to in promotional materials as "Dick's oldest friend" so I imagine they were back and forth at each other's houses plenty often. I headcanon that he was exposed to her pretty early on, maybe Gordon was investigating the Graysons' murder and he got to know Barbara somewhere in there. But they go to the same school and Barbara's pretty consistently one of the few who can really, really get the better of him. "She's, like, ridiculously good at everything." And he makes a face.

He loves her, really, he just doesn't know how. |D He's kind of confused on that score, because she kisses him on Dec 1 during a game of Spin the Bottle/Seven Minutes in Heaven, and asks him "Why do you think?"

Gymnastics'll be familiar to him, too. Word of God is that Barbara was a gymnast first in YJ continuity, too, so that's probably their major point of connection-- shared hobbies!

Always good. :D Shared hobbies. c:

This Barbara joined Batman at 16, after several months of "finding herself" - Her dad (One of the canons where Gordon is her biological father - mother implied to be dead) didn't want her to be a cop, so he pushed her into gymnastics... but that was never quite enough for her.

We know it was bee keeping for a while, and then there was protesting against companies who were bad for the environment with Pamela Isley (They were. Pretty close. Like. Ivy - post transformation - wanted Barbara to join her, close. I mean, she was a sucky friend when it came down to it, but there's no denying they both cared about each other.)

After that... the closet thing she's had to a social life is looking extremely bored while at a circus. :/ Between homework, gymanstics, super hero time, and making dinner while Gordon was busy at work - I headcanon that she pretty much had zero social life. 8U Yet alone a romantic one. (Which is part of why Kara's implication of lesbianism has given her something of an identity crises. Barbara spent all that time trying to "find herself," and suddenly realized that she left a whole side of things completely unexplored.)
