EVENT: Within The Shadows (Part 1)

Greetings, Rekindle players! We hope you enjoyed your Summer and Remembrance Festivals! However, now we have an, until recently, secret mini-event for you all.


Event: Within the Shadows
July 28th-July 30th
As the sun sets on the 28th of July, the power begins to flicker in the third and fourth districts as well as the guest apartments. Shopping centers and businesses in the affected districts begin to close down early, and animals seem to be a little on edge wherever they may be. And for good reason, as sudden grafitti and anonymous threats or accusations begin appearing on the outer walls of residences and businesses alike. No one knows where it came from, save the perpetrators.

For those who went to explore the area outside the city walls in March and located any of the three paths, they will find that in their mailboxes and on their doors are the same mark on a piece of paper the next morning (29th of July). Though for those who were transformed in April, they will find that a special mask that has carvings like the face of the animal of creature they transformed into.

Who could be leaving these, and what purposes could they be for? The answers for these and more can only be found in the shadows...

In the wake of this, Jojo and I think Naoto would have a couple of late-night stake outs to see if she and a transformed wolfy Kanji can catch someone in the act and bring them in.

Steve and Freya went exploring and found the path that led to the cave, but we never got an answer about what was at the end of that path. Would they have found anything particularly important?

I personally apologize for no response being given to that question. As for what was inside the cave, they would have come across a area that seems to be carved out and turned into a room. The furnishings are high-tech, and all seem to be used recently.

At the far end of the room is a door, in which ominous whispers can be heard. Magically inclined or not, they would be able to sense something beyond the door.

Am I right in thinking they wouldn't have been able to open it, or could they have waltzed into the next room that in no way seems creepy and dangerous?

The door is unlocked should they attempt to open it. Roll for stealth check.

The guard dogs (which are mutated to have more scales than fur) notice the creaking of the doors and Tony's scent and alert the people inside. However, before the dogs can reach them, a hooded figure appears and waves a hand, causing the dogs to stop and the world to turn black.

They will find themselves just inside the third district with their backs against the wall between the city and the outside world. They will have a slip of paper on their person with a familiar symbol on it and a note.

Ware thyselves within the miasma, lest ye suffer the loss of consciousness once more.

Power sources and electrical engineering are kind of Tony's shtick, so he'd be all over trying to fix these flickering lights because he's a nice guy like that. To what extent (if any, due to Reasons) would he be able to repair the lights in his apartment or the city, and if he's unable to repair his own stuff could he light his own apartment with lamps/flashlights/whatever using an independent power source?

He will find when examining the lighting that nothing seems wrong with them, and that it's something magically-inclined at work. Independent power sources will work due to the magic being foreign to it. (Similarly, his arc reactor(s) will not be affected by the same magic, as whatever it is doesn't seem interested in causing bodily harm.)

I get the threats being all intimidating and whatnot, but I feel like there's a lot going on that's meant for long-time players with previous knowledge of what's going on.

My apologies! I did not mean it to seem that way, but this first part was meant for it to seem foreboding and to correct some errors the mod team did not fix in months previously. More information is going to be posted today that will be meant to bring to light what is going on.
