EVENT: Memory Swap

Based on some player plot suggestions, we’ve got a little bit of fun planned for you guys in the form of an event! It’s been a while since there’s been some tampering with the direct effects of contact between characters….And it’s about time for that to come into play!

How so? Starting on the 23rd (and going to the 30th with some leeway) memories and recall might become a bit odd for your character, and people they’ve been close with.

See, the contact system has been finicky again, and those people you’ve been spending time with, been in contact with...You might get to know them better, and vice-versa. It could begin in dreams, or a sudden hallucination.

But certain memories from your companions could end up in your head, and you trade some of your own. You may even LOSE those memories for a short time. Maybe it’s a dark secret, a sad or a happy memory…Or just that embarrassing event you try to forget about. But it’s not just yours anymore.

MECHANICS FAQ:
Can I swap memories with more than one person?
Quite possibly! The main thing is that it’s a two way swap, between you and the other character. So for example, Character A can swap memories with B, and then swap memories again with C. But if B and C want to swap memories, they’ll have to make contact.

Can I swap memories that aren’t my own?
As mentioned above, no. You’ll need to make contact with the original owner of the memories if you’d like a swap!

Do I have to forget?
Not at all! That’s an optional effect for extra drama, to take or leave as you see fit.

What memories count?
Canon memories, RP memories, it’s all good.

Do you happen to have a text box I can use for this event?
But of course! Naturally, this is optional if you want to fill it out!

- He's been to many Disney worlds, so feel free to share his time there! The Lion King (he got turned into a tortoise), The Little Mermaid (got turned into a sea turtle), Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin, Mulan, Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, The Nightmare Before Christmas (he got turned into a monster-version of himself), Tron (got a nifty Tron suit), and the black and white Steamboat Willie world. Character: Professor Samuel Oak, Pokemon Anime

If you want me to go into detail on any of these, or want an unfamiliar term clarified, go ahead and ask! I'll do my best to have this in chronological order. (At least, in chronological order from Sam's point of view. Time-travel is involved.)

As a kid (10-ish), Sam rescues a Celebi which travels 40 years into the future, taking Sam with it. Sam has an adventure with current-day Ash Ketchum to rescue Celebi again, which then takes Sam back to his own time.

Getting glomped by Muk. Multiple times.

That time he and his best friend were in a helicopter crash while the Legendary Birds were wrecking the environment.

That time his best friend got kidnapped by a fake Entei, Ash went after her because he is a reckless shounen protagonist, and Sam was stuck far away from the action playing mission control and worrying about his best friend and protege.

That time he got kidnapped, interrogated, and tortured (mild, kid-friendly torture) by Team Rocket.

Most recently, getting kidnapped AGAIN (he still has the bruises from getting grabbed) for the information in his laboratory database, so the bad guy could create the ultimate fake Pokemon.

I notice that a lot of these are full of drama and conflict, so if you want something happy, there's the Muk option (kinda), the Celebi option (though that's more bittersweet, he and Ash got to be good buddies and then he didn't get to see Ash again for at least 30 years), or maybe some cute happy family fluff with bitty!Ash and bitty!Gary that totally happened off-screen.

He's a minor character who mainly just transfers Ash Pokemon and gives him advice, so there's not a whole lot to work with compared to more "main" characters.

I would so so love for Oak and Red to meet. Did you want to imagine at all that their test drive thing was a thing that happened? Or we could have them meet again in game. Either way I would be up for some of dat CR.

Memories available to swap: I am p. much open to any sort of memory being shared from Red. Or if you've been touched by one of his Pokemon then if the mods are cool with it, a memory from their point of view.

→ Becoming a trainer: Red getting a Charmander and his rival deciding HEY LET'S FIGHT POKEMON RIGHT HERE IN GRAMP'S LABORATORY which may include an unsuspecting assistant walking over and being like W-WOAH comically loses papers everywhere and backing back away as Pokemon JUMP AROUND. Fight turns into a draw when the two Pokemon accidentally bump their heads into each other. Totally cool.

→ ANY POKEMON STUFF EVER: Capturing Pokemon, evolutions, goofy times or serious times. Red buying a Magikarp, going out and getting Pokemon for other people. Red being really surprised when he's got an old rod and decides to fish in Vermillion City and all he keeps getting are... magi....karp....
Also available are times of getting chased by various different Pokemon, whether also goofy or not. And anything relating to his Pokemon team currently on him. Also meeting legendary birds aw yea.

→ Any Pokemon battle ever: Gym battles, Team Rocket battles, Elite Four or whatever you want.

Also available are times of Red training on a mountain with his Pokemon for way too long. Snow, wonderful joy, and the visits of to the Pokemon Centre now and then and chatting away to the Pokemon Nurse.

If you want anything from Red at all but we haven't threaded or threaded a touch out, I am fine with handwaving that they might once and did the Touching Thing once and then bam, have a memory through a dream or when you just ordered ice cream or something. And then we can always have more things later. \o
